Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) in partnership with UnitingCare, Greater Shepparton, Ethnic Council of Shepparton and St Pauls Lutheran Church have planned a series of free monthly legal sessions for the newly arrived communities of Shepparton.

These sessions have grown out of need by these communities to have information that will assist them with legal problems associated with debt, door-to-door sales, driving, social security, housing and immigration.

The fourth session is coming up. Dana Krause, senior immigration lawyer from Victoria Legal Aid will talk about sponsoring or proposing family members, making the correct visa applications, the law concerning unaccompanied minors and other legal problems connected to migration law. Joanne Ellis, the local lawyer at Goulburn Valley Community Legal Service will also talk about how her service provides assistance on migration law matters. There will also be a migration agent from the Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre.

Also:
- supper and African talent will be provided
- a local lawyer will be there to help with other legal problems
- interpreters in several languages: Swahili, Dinka, Sudanese-Arabic, Dari and Arabic.

The fourth session will take place on:
Thursday 15 April 2010 @ 6.30pm
Harder Auditorium
Shepparton campus of Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE
152-200 Fryers Street, Shepparton
